  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sour cream, white wine vinegar, garlic, kosher salt, and black pepper until smooth.
  2. Add the blue cheese and fold it in, mashing some of it against the bowl to create a creamy base while leaving some small chunks for texture.
  3. Whisk in the cold buttermilk until the dressing is thick but pourable.
  4. Stir in the chives.
  5. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
  6. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to meld flavors. Stir before serving. Keeps refrigerated up to 5 days.
