Guarana syrup is a sweet, concentrated syrup flavored with extract from the guarana plant (Paullinia cupana), an Amazonian berry known for its natural caffeine. Typically built on a base of cane sugar syrup, it carries a caramel-like sweetness with gentle fruity, herbal notes and a faint, pleasant bitterness from the guarana.
Popular in Brazil for making guaraná-style soft drinks, it’s also used in cocktails, mocktails, and desserts where a tropical, lightly caffeinated lift is desired. Because brand strength varies, start small and adjust to taste; it blends easily with citrus, tropical fruits, ginger, and sparkling water for bright, refreshing beverages.
