RoughChop Classics.

Help shape recipes everyone can enjoy.

Our goal is a Five Chop baseline recipe for every classic dish: a timeless, reliable reference for everyone to cook, share, and enjoy.

Your kitchen is part of that work. Cook a dish you care about and leave an honest review. Together, we can refine a shared baseline that gives everyone a dependable place to start.

What is a baseline?

The foundation
of the dish.

A baseline recipe brings together the core ingredients, proportions, and methods that make a dish what it is. It is a complete recipe you can cook as written, and a reliable reference for understanding its characteristic flavor and texture.

Many dishes have regional and family traditions. A baseline offers one researched starting point within that wider story. Learn the foundation, cook it again with confidence, or keep a personal adaptation in your own cookbook.

How we create a baseline

Researched first. Ready for your kitchen.

  1. 01

    Research the dish.

We read established recipes across the internet to understand the dish, its traditions, and the different ways cooks prepare it.

  2. 02

    Find the foundation.

We compare ingredients, proportions, and techniques to identify the core ingredients that define the dish and the best methods for preparing it.

  3. 03

    Build a clear recipe.

We bring that research into one complete starting recipe, with measured ingredients, ordered steps, and useful cues for flavor, texture, and doneness.

The goal is a timeless reference you can return to: balanced ingredients, clear instructions, and a result that feels true to the dish. Some baselines may already work beautifully and need no changes. Where a detail needs refining, that's where you play a role.

Everyone has something to add

Cook. Share. Make it better.

  1. 01

    Choose a favorite.

Start with a dish you enjoy. Familiar recipes give you something to compare, and new ones give you a fresh perspective.

  2. 02

    Cook it.

Use the shared recipe as your starting point. Notice the flavor, the texture, and any steps that leave you guessing. If you make a change, explain what you did.

  3. 03

    Share what happened.

Leave an honest review of your own experience. Tell us what worked and what needs refining. Specific observations help us find improvements that work for everyone.

  4. 04

    Enjoy the improved version.

When shared refinements become version 1.1, come back and cook it again. Enjoy a more dependable recipe, shaped by the experiences of cooks like you and ready for everyone to share.

Honesty is what makes this useful. A recipe that needs work deserves an honest review, and a recipe that works deserves to have its strengths understood.

Tips for a useful review

The next version starts in your kitchen

Help write
version 1.1.

We're gathering cooking experiences to help shape the next version of each baseline recipe. AI analytics will compare reviews, identify recurring observations, and help determine which refinements cooks agree on. Those shared findings will guide version 1.1 toward a more reliable, Five Chop baseline.

If your review is in consensus with others about a refinement, you'll receive Recipe Refiner recognition and contributing authorship for version 1.1 when that refinement is published.

Your contribution, recognized

Help a classic take shape.

Be there at the beginning. Help make the next version better. Both contributions deserve credit, and you can earn both badges for the same recipe.

Founding Cook token

The first 1,000 reviewers of each recipe

Founding Cook

Your founder token remembers your part in helping a recipe get started. It is awarded automatically when you submit a review while a place remains.

One token per person per recipe, with a founder number out of 1,000. Existing reviews count, and edits keep your original place.

Recipe Refiner badge

A contributing author of version 1.1

Recipe Refiner

This badge marks a published refinement you helped shape. Your name will be credited as a contributing author of that recipe version.

This recognition is for helping refine the recipe, whatever rating you gave it. It is open beyond the first 1,000 reviewers.

Made in your kitchen. Seen by everyone.

Put your stamp
on a classic.

Do you love taking pictures of your creations? Share a beautiful photo of the dish you cooked and put your stamp on a baseline recipe. Add your own photo when you leave your review.

The community will vote to choose the featured dish photo on each recipe page. Your creation could become the picture that inspires the next cook to give it a try.

A few things to know

About reviews and recognition.

What does consensus mean?

Independent cooking experiences point to the same useful refinement: a clearer step, a better timing cue, or an ingredient adjustment that improves the baseline while keeping the dish itself intact. Share your own observations; agreement should emerge from cooking the recipe, not from copying another review.

What does the founder token represent?

It is a commemorative award on your profile, tied to a specific recipe and your founder number out of 1,000. It celebrates being there early and helping the recipe grow.

What happens after the first 1,000 reviewers?

The first 1,000 reviewers establish the foundation; the recipe can keep improving after that. AI analytics will help identify refinements that cooks agree on across their reviews. Cooks whose feedback contributes to a published refinement will receive Recipe Refiner recognition and authorship credit for the version they helped shape, starting with version 1.1. As you earn more credited refinements, your opinion will carry more weight in future analysis. Every cook can still contribute an honest review, and only the Founding Cook badge is limited to the first 1,000 reviewers.

What if I edit or remove my review?

Editing keeps your founder number. Deleting your review removes its Founding Cook badge from your profile. If you review the recipe again, your original badge is restored. Founder numbers are not reassigned.
