Agua De Mango
Ingredients
- 3 cups mango – peeled and chopped (~2.5 medium mangos)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (50g)
- 5 cups water – cold
- 2 tbsp lime juice – freshly squeezed
- 1/8 tsp fine salt
- ice cubes – for serving

Instructions
- 1.
Peel, pit, and chop the mango to yield 3 cups.
- 2.
Add the chopped mango, 2 cups of the cold water, sugar, lime juice, and salt to a blender. Blend on high until very smooth, 30–45 seconds.
- 3.
Pour the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer into a large pitcher, pressing with a spoon to extract as much liquid as possible; discard the pulp.
- 4.
Stir in the remaining 3 cups cold water. Taste and adjust sweetness or lime to preference.
- 5.
Chill until cold or serve right away over ice. Stir before pouring and serve immediately.
Agua de Mango is a refreshing Mexican fruit drink with a light, clean body and a bright mango aroma. Unlike a smoothie, it’s meant to be sipped freely, balancing ripe mango sweetness with a gentle dilution of water for a thirst-quenching finish. A touch of lime adds lift, and straining creates a silky texture that pours cleanly over ice.
Aguas frescas have deep roots in Mexico, where fresh fruits, seeds, and flowers are blended with water and lightly sweetened for everyday refreshment. Street vendors and home cooks alike tailor them to the season, with mango taking center stage when the fruit is abundant. Over time, Agua de Mango has remained simple and elemental, a staple at mercados, family meals, and celebrations, sometimes dressed up with chili-lime seasoning but always anchored by ripe fruit and cold water.
